Enrollment for the 2023-2024 season is now open.

All class times are tentative and subject to change based on enrollment and instructor need.

Creative Movement

Our Creative Movement class is available for young children ages 2-4, who want to experience a fun and mildly structured movement/dance class. This class is all about getting to know the basic foundations of dance while dancing to fun and age-appropriate songs, playing with props, and meeting new friends.

We recommend this class to students who are brand new to dancing, and who are not used to a structured learning environment.

Creative movement is a once a week class and is 45 minutes long. They dance one dance in the recital.

Preschool and Kindergarten

Our Preschool and Kindergarten classes are a combined tap and ballet class with students spending 30 minutes on each style per class. Students will start learning the basics of tap and ballet curriculum.

We recommend this class to students who are more used to a structured group activity/learning environment or those who have already taken a creative movement class. Please see the description of Tap and Ballet below for more detailed information.

The combination class is once a week and is 60 minutes long. They will have two dances, one for tap and one for ballet, in the recital.

1st -12th Grade Ballet/Lyrical

Students in grades 1-12 get to choose between a combination of a few different classes. Ballet/Lyrical, Tap, and Jazz/Hip-Hop. Each is its own separate class, and students may choose one, two, or all three. Students will be separated by grade level.

Ballet/Lyrical consists of the Cecchetti method of classical Italian ballet style which uses French vocabulary.  Emphasis is on strength and flexibility with correct technique and body alignment.  Each grade will learn level appropriate classical ballet steps and continuously advance in training.  Stage directions, body positions, posture, spacing, and musicality will be taught at each level. This class is highly recommended for all students as ballet is the core of all dance.

Ballet/Lyrical is a once a week class, and is 60 minutes long with the first 30 minutes concentrating on technique only and the last 30 minutes learning combinations and choreography.

Each class has their own routine in the recital.

Tap dancing uses specific and rapid footwork.  Tap shoes are used to create sounds in rhythm with other students and music.  Students will learn how to count music, choreography, improvisation, and syncopation.  Each class will work at their level and add more technique as they advance.

Tap is a once a week class, and is 45 minutes long.

There are many styles of jazz that have developed through the years.  This class will touch on all styles with the most concentration on Broadway  and Pop style jazz.  Jazz is one of the most popular and long lasting styles of dance in the performing industry.

Jazz is a once a week class, and is 45 minutes long.

Boy’s Hip-Hop

Please see the class description for Hip Hop. This class is a boys-only class and will incorporate moves that contain more break-dancing. This class allows boys to gain confidence in dance with their peers.

Boy’s Hip-Hop is a once-a-week class and is 45 minutes long. Boy’s Hip-Hop has one dance in the recital.

Contemporary

Contemporary as a genre combines elements of all different styles of dance including lyrical, modern, jazz, and ballet. Contemporary is an extremely expressive style that uses fluidity in its movements to connect the body and mind to the choreography. Though the word contemporary is a bit of a misnomer, as the style is decades old, modern techniques popularized by Hortan and Graham will be taught to create an all-encompassing dance curriculum.

Non-Comp Contemporary is a once-a-week class and is 45 minutes long. They perform one dance in the recital.
